Building Systems of Support to Address Maternal Mental Health
Establishing Programs at the National, State, and Local Levels
JUNE 8, 2022 12:30-1:30 PM EST
Mental health conditions – primarily anxiety and depression – are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth,
affecting 1 in 5 childbearing individuals or 800,000 families each year in the United States.
Tragically, suicide and overdose combined are the leading cause of death for women in the first year following pregnancy.
Speakers will discuss programs to address maternal mental health at the national, state, and local levels,
highlighting legislative and appropriations requests to build out these systems of support.
