The House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations passed the 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies funding bill which provides funding for maternal mental health programs, including:

  • an additional $5 million for grants to states to create programs to address maternal mental health conditions (doubling the size of the program)
  • an additional $2 million for a dedicated Maternal Mental Health Hotline to provide text and culturally appropriate support, along with funding for public awareness

MMHLA has advocated for the last year for these increases in federal funding for maternal mental health programs.
