Kara Zivin (PhD, MS, MA, MFA) is a professor of psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, and health management and policy at the University of Michigan.
Kara leads a large body of scientific research on mental health conditions during pregnancy and postpartum.
She also nearly died by suicide during pregnancy.
Kara shares her story, describing the long arc of shame, guilt, and stigma associated with her depression during pregnancy and postpartum, to help other women suffering maternal mental health conditions.
