National Nonprofit, MMHLA, Publishes State-Based Maternal and Infant Health Data for All to Access
MMHLA is pleased to announce the publication of our updated 2025 State Fact Sheets. First published in 2020, our State Fact Sheets provide critical facts and figures about maternal and infant health.
The 2025 State Fact Sheets are a comprehensive source of state-specific information including:
Births by race and ethnicity.
Infant and maternal mortality rates.
Maternal mental health programs and resources.
Medicaid programs and policies related to maternal and infant health.
Additional state data impacting maternal health.
Information is organized in easy-to-read tables with corresponding links to external websites and publications. The aim of these fact sheets is to provide a high-level overview of maternal and infant health in each state so that policymakers, providers, and advocates have a trusted source to reference in their work.
Researching and developing these State Fact Sheets was a months-long, intensive project, and we could not have done it without the generous support of our funders CVS Health® and Sage Therapeutics® - Biogen who demonstrated their commitment to maternal mental health by investing in this project.
Our State Fact Sheets serve a range of purposes. Hear how people from different sectors and various occupations use our State Fact Sheets in their work.
Government Affairs Professional, Massachusetts
“These State Fact Sheets are incredibly important, especially as the federal government is taking action to remove data and information from relevant websites.”

State Senator Chief of Staff, New York
“Our staff is obsessed with MMHLA’s State Fact Sheets! We consult your background information when framing our legislation justification memos, we cite your statistics in discussions with stakeholders, and we review your data when preparing for press conferences and other public media opportunities. As a small State Senate staff, we would find it incredibly challenging to compile and vet all this information ourselves. Your work allows us to focus on building local and state-level stakeholder relationships.”
— Ann Binstock
Nonprofit Executive Director, Massachusetts
“MMHLA’s State Fact Sheets are my go-to for authoritative information on maternal mental health. As the Executive Director of a small nonprofit, it’s a huge help to have the latest, best information available all in one place.”
— Jessie Colbert, Mass. PPD Fund
Public Health Professional, Montana
“The State Fact Sheets from MMHLA are my go-to resource when trying to effectively communicate policy change needs related to improving perinatal mental health outcomes. I bring the Montana State Fact Sheets with me to meetings with elected officials and share the information to highlight the importance of healthcare access for mothers and infants.”
— Brie McLaurin, Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Montana
