Sip and Celebrate Event for Maternal Mental Health was a Success!

On November 30th, MMHLA hosted a reception on Capitol Hill to celebrate steps the federal government has taken to address maternal mental health. Close to 100 attendees joined to celebrate federal maternal mental health programs, including the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and state maternal mental health programs. There was also a presentation on a proposed pilot project to support the mental health of our nation’s military mothers.

Speakers included representatives from both Congress and the Executive Branch, including:

  • Representative Robin Kelly (D-IL-2)

  • Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-6)

  • Dr. Diana Bianchi, Director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Human Development

  • Dr. Michael Warren, Associate Administrator, Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal Child Health Bureau

  • Julie Stewart, Senior Healthcare Analyst, Government Accountability Office
