The Recap: National Day of Action for Maternal Mental Health 2026

On March 10, 2026, thousands of people across the U.S. participated in the National Day of Action for Maternal Mental Health to advocate for an increase in federal funding for maternal mental health programs that serve thousands of moms every year. Our goal was simple: More federal funding means more moms can get the help they deserve.

The Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance (MMHLA) organizes this annual Day of Action so that two programs that serve thousands of moms every year will continue to receive federal funding.

  1. The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: Provides 24/7 voice and text resources and support to moms and families.

  2. The Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program: Provides education, consultation, and resources to healthcare providers who support mothers. (Also called: Perinatal Psychiatry Access Programs).

People Across the U.S. Joined the Day of Action in Two Ways:

  1. Virtual Congressional Meetings: Individuals advocated for maternal mental health by participating in meetings with Congressional offices.

  2. Online Advocacy Campaign: Individuals advocated for maternal mental health by using MMHLA’s online advocacy tool to call and email their Members of Congress.

Our Impact by the Numbers

Since 2019, we have helped pass groundbreaking federal legislation and have secured over $100 million in federal funding to create programs across the country that support maternal mental health. During our 2026 National Day of Action, our campaign generated thousands of actions in support of maternal mental health. Take a look at the numbers below.

  • 170 Advocates Participated in Virtual Congressional Meetings

  • 136 Meetings with Congressional Offices

  • 37 States and Washington D.C. represented

  • 5,475 Emails Sent to Federal Elected Officials

Many Thanks to Everyone who Showed Up to Help Moms and Save Lives!

Our organization is relatively new—established in 2019—and we have already secured over $100 million in federal funding for maternal mental health programs that are helping moms and saving lives. This is no accident. When thousands of voices across the country rally together demanding better for moms, we make change. Thank you for giving your time and your voice to this issue. We are grateful to do this work alongside so many passionate and generous people. Until next year!
